Masonry Team Leader

Job Overview

‍We are seeking a motivated Masonry Team Leader to join our team and lead a crew of masons and laborers. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality workmanship, job site safety, and schedule adherence. You will be responsible for your team's productivity and success by motivating them and keeping them on track. This is a hands-on role that may require you to lay block, brick, stone, etc.

Responsibilities

1. Teach/Mentor/Coach the Team
What winning looks like: Your team has 100% trust and confidence in you as the Team Leader.

• Be present and available for your team.
• Be present in the work area as much as possible.
• Set goals with your team and not for the team.
• Create personal goals for each team member.
• Perform monthly 1-on-1 meetings with each team member along with the Project Manager.

2. Lead by Example
What winning looks like: Your team sees you as the producer at the highest level. You have earned the team's trust and respect, not because of the title, but because of your ability and by working alongside the team.

• Work on the wall, or project, with your team every day.
• Be a high producer. Be the 1st one at the job and the last one to leave.
• Show the team every day what the expectations are. Don't just tell them, explain and show them. Be a coach.
• Skill the unskilled by showing them how we want things done.
• Assign a mentor.
• Further define personal expectations and goals with individual team members.
• Help the team understand the 'WHY'. Why are you asking for something to be done in a certain way? Why are your expectations where they are? Why is the schedule the way it is? Etc.

3. Be proficient from an administrative perspective and fully aligned with the company's core values.
What winning looks like: Complete all required daily reports, schedule material deliveries, be proficient at reading blueprints and setting up work areas and layout, perform monthly 1-on-1 sessions, and perform weekly meetings with the team.

• Become proficient with Buildertrend.
• Make sure your team is clocked in and out on your project each day.
• Coordinate material, equipment, and team logistics.
• Submit credit card receipts with job names daily.
• Know the project schedule and the budgeted time to complete the project.
• Work directly with the Ophoff Companies Project Manager, other onsite superintendents, and trade contractors.
• Be in full alignment with the core values.
• Be proficient in reading blueprints.

Requirements

• Proven experience in masonry tasks such as mortar application, stone setting, brick work, etc.
• Knowledge of the masonry industry.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, elevations, and masonry details.
• Ability to mentor less experienced masons and laborers.
• Basic admin/tech skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on your feet on a daily basis.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
